    Looking for a different perspective

Lately I noticed I avoid challenges because I automatically expect disappointment. It probably started after a project failed that I spent months working on, and ever since then I have struggled to believe my effort matters. Can you recommend learned helplessness examples and how to overcome it? I really want to break this habit.

Yeah, that sounds a lot like learned helplessness — once one big project blows up, your brain starts treating every new challenge like a repeat of the same ending. I knew someone who quit pitching ideas after one bad launch, then slowly got unstuck by testing tiny wins again. This page, learned helplessness theory and psychology explained , explains the pattern in a really plain way and shows how people start rebuilding confidence.
